“The rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind & the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.” ~ B.K.S. Iyengar
Thank you for your interest in my services. In therapy and in daily life, I deeply value and am fascinated by each individual's unique life stories. My goal is to understand the world from my clients' perspectives, respecting that we, as individuals, are the foremost authority on ourselves. I aim to empower my clients to initiate the changes they desire.
My warm, welcoming, and relaxed demeanor is a key aspect of my practice. It, along with my genuine curiosity and empathy, helps me build trust with my clients. I create a safe space for them to explore even the most challenging topics, understanding that both resilience and struggle are inherent in all of us. It's an honour to support my clients throughout their journeys, and I strive to make them feel comfortable and at ease from the moment we meet.
As I reflect on my journey into psychology and counselling, I am reminded of the pivotal role that teaching yoga and yoga therapy played in igniting my passion for understanding the human mind. The principles of mindfulness and self-awareness that I learned from yoga greatly influenced my approach to counseling, leading me to believe in the interconnectedness of mental and physical well-being.
This belief led me to pursue higher education and obtain my Diploma in Applied Psychology and Counselling, with a focused specialization in Professional Counselling. Each step of my journey has enriched my understanding of the complexities of the human psyche and has further fueled my dedication to helping individuals navigate their inner worlds.
I began my journey into yoga after taking my first yoga class in 1997. I fell in love with the practice, realizing that I had been doing yoga (without knowing it) since my childhood in Sweden.
My passion grew and in 2005 I completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program. Since then I have completed additional specialized courses including Kids Yoga, Pre-natal Yoga, and Restorative Yoga, as well as numerous workshops with internationally known yogi’s David Swenson, Jason Crandell, Rolf Gates, Bo Forbes and other notable local instructors.
I continue to develop my practice and instruction techniques: In June of 2015, I completed a three year Certified Yoga Therapist program with Leila Stuart, and I finished Madhuri Ayurveda & Yoga teacher training in the spring of 2016.
I believe that through yoga and/or counselling we can begin to understand and feel a sense of contentment, and consequently understand and live in harmony inside ourselves, embracing any moment no matter what emotions roll through us- the good or the bad. Yoga can provide us the tools to lean on, to hold us in the moment, to get through whatever turmoil is present in our lives.
